Mechanical Engineer Current Vacancies

photo of Mechanical Engineer 2006-12-23:

Mechanical engineers design, construct, install and maintain machinery or the mechanical systems and components that make up machinery across a range of sectors including manufacturing, construction, power, transport, sports and medical.
Mechanical engineering projects are diverse.
Whichever industry they work in, engineers are normally involved in three key areas: design - using computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer modelling to turn research ideas into technical plans and specifications for new components or processes.
Fully qualified professional engineers usually hold incorporated or chartered status.
Chartered engineers are normally involved at a strategic planning level, researching and developing new designs, innovations and more efficient processes.
Incorporated engineers specialise in managing the day-to-day process of applying current engineering solutions in the most cost-effective manner.
Mechanical engineers normally work 37 to 40 hours a week.
Opportunities are excellent for qualified engineers.
Mechanical engineers are employed by a wide range of organisations including local and central government departments, the armed services, manufacturers in all industries, research and development companies, IT companies, and public utilities.
With relevant skills and experience, engineers can specialise in a particular engineering sector, and move into roles such as project management, specialist research or consultancy. Experienced mechanical engineers earn between 26,000 and 37,000. (Permalink)
