In hotel chains, promotion may be into a strategic role such as corporate marketing or training.

There are also openings for hotel managers to move into other non-hospitality business areas.
Self-employment is frequent as experienced managers can open their own hotels.

A trainee hotel manager would earn around 12,000 to 14,000 a year.
