Austria is well placed geographically to benefit from the development of Eastern European economies.
Austrian graduates are older than their UK counterparts - more than half are over 25 when they graduate.
Austrian employers usually look for graduates with relevant degrees.

This said, English is spoken widely in business.

Positions are typically advertised through newspapers and the Austrian Employment Service Arbeitsmarktservice. Job seekers in Austria need to be aware of newspapers, recruitment agencies and the importance of networking.

In Vienna Der Standard and Die Presse carry vacancies on Friday and Saturday.
Private employment agencies have only been able to operate in Austria since 1994.
It may be useful to contact the Recruitment and Employment Confederation REC.
REC is a trade association of private agencies, and can provide addresses of employment agencies in the UK which specialise in placing people in employment across international boundaries.

Austrian students often develop their business contacts by linking their dissertations or project work to specific employers or industries.
Austria has 22 state and eight private universities.

Living costs vary and, while part-time work may assist funding some expenses, it is unlikely to cover all costs.
