Most Guesthouses are found near
the city centre.
This area is thought to have the warmest
climate in mainland Britain and hence its name of " The
English Riviera " which relates to the seaside towns and
lively ambience of South Devon.
Go further North and discover the countryside, the
National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor, the historic towns
and with there fine Georgian
architecture. The coastline around Ilfracombe is part of
the North Devon Heritage Coast and offers some beautiful
views.
Plymouth the biggest city in Devon southwest England. One
of Europes finest natural harbours, Plymouth Sound is
always a hive of activity with all kinds of yachts and
pleasure boats joining merchant ships, naval ships,
fishing boats and cross channel ferries providing an ever
changing spectacle. Almost entirely rebuit since the
bombing of the second World war which destroyed huge areas
in the heart of the old city. Plymouth is a fascinating
blend of old and new with the modern city centre providing
a sharp contrast with the quaint, narrow cobbled
streets and quays of the nearby Barbican, the citys
historic Elizabethan quarter.
